It’ll be interesting to see if they’re still preaching the same thing next week. I suspect that they’ll become slightly less committed.

I’ll be surprised if that position changes. With the statement from that video and the big NO slide from last year, it’d be a bit of a 180 to be any less committed to AppKit next week

I doubt that they would consider being more committed to UIKit than AppKit “merging macOS and iOS,” which is what the NO slide was a response to.

To me, the “we’re still committed to AppKit!” statement from last year seems very similar to their “were still committed to Objective-C!” comments from 2014. I read an implicit “for now” at the end.

It could be 10+ years before they deprecate those technologies or stop contributing to them, but they’re not going to be focusing on them or using them as much in the future.
