In the UK, May has been warm and very dry. It has been very sunny in the west and duller in the east. Overall Spring was slightly warm, a bit wetter with average sunshine. Here is a summary of the UK weather and climate for the last year. #dataviz #climatechange #globalwarming

Depending on source 2022 was either the 5th or 6th warmest year on record. However, we are currently in a La Nina state and it is definitely the warmest La Nina year. This #dataviz shows the progression of global temperature leading up to the last 3 large El Ninos. #globalwarming

Great blog by Kenneth Field about my #dataviz showing UK climate. One other decision I made is using colour scales that are intuitive for the variables.

The Met Office has announced that last year was the hottest ever recorded for the UK. 11 of the 12 months were above average. @Lauratobin1 explains why this is so concerning.

This #dataviz shows the UK's warmest year on record. It has been relentlessly mild (or hot) all year apart from a 2 week cold spell at the beginning of December (which made it the only cold month). Overall the mean temperature exceeded 10°C for the first time ever! #globalwarming

We have this thing that I like to call "weather" that means that just occasionally it gets cold like it is at the moment in the UK. The #dataviz below shows the daily temperature for the last year compared to pre-industrial averages, here 85% of the days are warm! #globalwarming

Great new #dataviz comparing over 60 years worth of #December #UK temperatures... The UK would need a December of near-record cold weather to avoid 2022 being the warmest year on record Read more👇 metoffice.gov.uk/about-us/press

December has the potential to be the only cool month this year, however even if we had a December like 2010 it would still be a very warm year! This #dataviz shows a rolling average of the UK daily temperature as the year progresses for 1960 to 2022, with possible 2022 outcomes.

Because day length according to the sun is only 24 hours on 4 days of the year the time of solar noon (highest point in the sky) changes each day. Meaning the earliest sunset and latest sunrise do not occur on the same day. This #dataviz shows this for London over next 6 weeks.
