Why is it that I can proofread a document 10,427 times, be absolutely content that it's without flaw, then ten seconds after I email it in, the very first page I look at has a huge typo that I have to fix and resend because it can't be ignored, like a zit on the tip of the nose.

I handed my father who had proofread my BSc project the final copy, which I had just handed in. He looked at the front: "Son, it's 1991 not 1990" Didn't even need to open it.

Fathers can hurt you more than anyone else in the world. Yet somehow we still yearn for approval, even though it will never happen.

I once heard the story of a PhD thesis defence, where the opponent asked about "that strange chapter about a different subject." Nobody noticed that a chapter from a diff PhD student, diff subject, diff research field, had been in there for at least 5 proofs... Nobody noticed.

Oh wow!! Having done a PhD this makes me wince! Ouch! No one!?!?!?! Sob!!!

There's a repeating mistake in the last book of David Eddings' Mallorean series where one of the deity names (Chaldan) is replaced with one of the villain names (Chamdar) for an entire section. Last I checked on a bookstore shelf, it *still* hasn't been fixed.

I learned that it helps changing the font and size every time you re-read it. The brain gets lazy after reading too many times and doesn’t actually read it anymore. Changing font and size makes it think it’s something new.

Genius idea, thank you
