When a person hits that subscribe button they are saying, I want this person's content... not I want you @Youtube to decide what portion of content I get.... C'mon guys, to subscribe is an action, which means that sub is saying, give me this content

In the past, some viewers were frustrated with how many notifications they received. Not everyone felt that way, so we added the bell. For any subs who are worried they're missing content, they can get all notifications by changing their settings here: http://goo.gl/XLDtz4

How about, I don't know, if someone doesn't want to receive notifications then just unsuscribe to that channel? Or better: An option that makes it so only live streams sends notifications. That would actually be useful

You don't have to receive notifications. After subscribing there is a little bell next to it that allows for you to be notified when new content it up. You don't need to press it. I never receive notifications on my YouTube channel.

I know. My idea was more like a suggestion if you only want notifications of live streams since an uploaded video can be watched whenever you go and check youtube; but you may want to know exactly when someone is streaming and nothing else.

Oh yeah I totally understand. It can get annoying getting a billion notifications of various videos. I agree I much rather get one or two whenever a live stream goes lives. Much more simple.
