Cost Rental Housing explained in 60 seconds! It can seem confusing but here's a way to provide housing for everyone who needs it. It shouldn't be about private investment but quality of life. I could easily do 2 hours on this model of housing but...Twitter...

I thought these two points on mental health were good. Also the first party I'm looking at to advocate for the legalisation of cannabis. A really great point. I am glad they included it in their health section.

A bunch of good points here. I am a big fan of their point of unmanned stations. They're a huge problem for me and others with disabilities. The health section was strong but missing mention of people with disabilities. A focus on mental health was a good move.

Next section. Good supports for carers. First good point! Next section. Finally! Disability! I was delighted to see their point on young people in nursing homes. Surprised it hasn't been addressed by more people.

"Fine Gael is totally lacking in ambition & vision. Their manifesto suggests everything is on the long finger." Today we launched our climate policy, highlighting the lack of ambition shown by the 3 main parties. If you want , vote Green. ✅

Finally, a 60 second explanation of what a site value tax is. It is not for taxing sites on farms in rural Ireland. It is for targeting the big property developers in our cities who sit on building land for decades in some cases. Thank you

  8. Site Value Tax explained in 60 seconds. Making it difficult for property developers to engage in land hoarding would hugely reduce the cost of land for building homes in the long run. (It's got nothing to do with gardens everyone!)

A great little explainer of a very worthwhile housing initiative and how it would work ...

"It doesn't make sense that it's more expensive to travel from Dublin to Cork by rail than by plane from Dublin to London," says . "We have 260,000 flights coming in and out of the country it's only fair that every sector has to pay."

Right now you might be weighing up the candidates in Dublin Central. Below are some of the issues that are important to me. If these issues are also important to you I'd appreciate your first preference on Saturday February 8th.

This is the vision our country needs. It takes a village to rear a child and to tend to our other vulnerable neighbours. This housing community model is an organic, bottom up community development model that will sustain and nurture us. Vote Green and it will happen.

The model - it's the cornerstone of our policy, but what does it all mean? Green Party Finance Spokesperson Neasa Hourigan has managed to explain it better than anyone I've seen to date.

Ireland (surprise, surprise), including , has misunderstood the concept. If the average rental should be the cost. An unemployed person pays the lowest rate, a young working family pays the next lowest rate, an above average earning family pays an above average rate...

The Green Party will build public and cost rental housing on public land, stabilising rents and providing secure, warm, healthy homes that offer a real alternative to the private market. Read more about our housing policy here:
