Yes! Had the same experience in Shanghai earlier this year. Couldn’t use my US card in the local ridesharing apps and it was the worst part of my trip.

It's awful. Vancouver did have Uber for a bit and then they took it away.... On a good note, it makes you appreciate them more!

Maybe if you stay in the North of the city. But the low density of routes in the South lead to a lot circuitous travel. Even in the North you often have to go through downtown to get from East to West, which doesn't make sense. Vancouver transit has a lot of hour long commutes

I often think about how unbelievable it is that before Uber and Lyft we just went outside and hoped there was a cab somewhere close. Similar to pre Grubhub, Postmates, UberEats, etc. You mean our only option was to go pick it up ourselves, or worse, dine in??
