Your obviously a fake troop
I'm going to read this whole thread to see if anybody set you straight. AR does not stand for Assault Rifle - It's short for Armalite, the manufacturer of the rifle.
no my dad is a troop and he always talks about his AR standing for Assault Rifle and I think he would know
that’s not correct. you should respect the troops when they’re telling you that it stands for Assault Rifle.
Ex Canadian Royal Special Forces Sergeant @robrousseau can confirm this
the AR in AR15 does, in fact, stand for "assault rifle" hope this helps
The "A" in AR15 stands for "Armalite" it's the manufactures name. Their first rife was the 'AR1 Parasniper' introduced in the 50s. As the name suggests it's a bolt action sniper rifle. Presumably you would call this an "Assault rifle" too?pic.twitter.com/miNGaEyBAv
The A and the R are both "ArmaLite". The R does not mean "rifle". Which is why a smooth-bore shotgun is called the AR-17.
