Probably also need a couple of cameras, so Ring seems like a good brand. Could replace my wired floodlight at the front door with one of these.

If I'm going to set up an on-site RAID array of HDD bays to store security camera footage, then it feels like a waste of money to go for a single-purpose dedicated device. May as well just buy a server and go full DIY with an open source NVR. Maybe zoneminder.com

Would actually be kind of awesome to play with AI facial recognition and "room presence" (tracking the location of people within the house, to have better control of lighting, temperature, etc.)

I've found that it's almost always way cheaper and a lot more flexible to go DIY and put in a little bit work like this.
