Jim Wright was a gentle, self-effacing giant of a man, in stature and in spirit. He brought the transformative power of higher education to bear for dozens of veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. I will miss him dearly. RIP, sir.

I thought it would be fun to ride my gravel bike to a very high and remote pond in western Maine. Crashed on the descent and separated my shoulder. Any tips out there for quick and complete healing from an AC separation, other than wearing Velcro shoes for a couple weeks?

Half-staff for Colin Powell on the Maine coast tonight. I once heard him say that people go to Washington to push big ideas, but we also need people to kill bad ideas, which isn’t as glamorous. An eloquent expression of his own regret. RIP.
