hmmm- I think "guidance" (in the Kirschner et al paper) is orthogonal to "active"/"passive", which is what you mention. I would consider most of your games "guided"

"Monkeys will solve puzzles even without a food reward. In fact, introducing food as a reward made the monkeys learn worse." Maybe would need to test with humans, and other than food etc, but interesting and have to consider if any prize could actually be a distraction.

Daniel Pink has done this in humans using income showing how extrinsic vs intrinsic rewards affect motivation and comes to similar conclusions.
