To be clear, if the FBI's legal argument is correct, then a single judge could outlaw strong encryption. Apple must win this fight.

@ncardozo@matthew_d_green Signal is free software and end-to-end encrypted. You can read the source and compile your own version without BD -
@mikeokner
@matthew_d_green Thank you captain obvious -
@ncardozo@matthew_d_green k so how can the FBI order Moxie to do jack shit? You'd instantly see a million forks. -
@mikeokner
@matthew_d_green Order Moxie to push custom update through the App/Play Store to a specific user. Only tiny change of detection. -
@mikeokner
@matthew_d_green Nothing shows up in the codebase. -
@ncardozo I'm only familiar with iOS, but it wouldn't be possible to push an update to a single user via the App Store. All or none. -
@mikeokner Wrong. With Apple under compulsion as well, Signal could absolutely push an update to one Apple ID.
-
@mikeokner Agreed that rooted/jailbroken phones could detect. But that possibility is remote.

@ncardozo@matthew_d_green#OpenKey http://crp.to/ok Opensource encryption, you own the keys and can validate there is no backdoor -
@ncardozo@astepanovich@matthew_d_green To succeed doesn't Apple have to admit that it wasn't being truthful about their security?
