    A recent study into the realism of character design; Subsurface Scattering. I've been trying to create a realistic rendering section of blender that combines the SSS node in the Principled BSDF and a skeleton mesh underneath. In this short video, I show my progress in the code.

    Added dynamic weather. Probably a challenge for twitter video compression, but here's rain with wet ground and puddles.

    You can see that I punch into the footage and you can easily tell the light fall off of the character's nose is significantly more realistic and soft. I really enjoyed this little test and hope to do more in the future!
