substack dumping a bunch of money on Freddie de Boer is a good example of how contrarian centristy anti idpol bullshit isn't actually contrarian, but is in fact a good career path. 1

also apparently knowingly falsely accusing interlocutors of sexual harassment in order to win an argument is not likely to harm your future prospects, which you think would upset the anti cancel culture folks, but apparently not.

Freddie did apologize for that, which is better than if he did not apologize, obviously. still. there are people who never knowingly falsely accused anyone of sexual harassment who I would rather see get a big payday.

anyway. looking forward to Freddie arguing again that standardized testing is good because it pays his bill no wait I mean because it helps disadvantaged students even though obviously it doesn't actually do that.

I guess FDB was unemployed and struggling, which is a bad place to be; it's really rough out there now. I don't begrudge him an income.

I just in general find his work pretty harmful and painfully blinkered, and if substack is out there handing out cushy contracts, there are just so many people who I would rather see get that platform.
