this is just a remarkable rhetorical move, and quite similar I think to, you know, insisting that someone writing about you not use your name.

it requires a certain kind of entitlement where you think you should get credit for your work but that any pushback is unfair and even immoral or a kind of cheating.

so yeah, this essay seems like a pretty devastating analysis of Siskind's bad faith, cruelty, and bigotry. http://www.eruditorumpress.com/blog/the-beigeness-or-how-to-kill-people-with-bad-writing-the-scott-alexander-method/ …

nerds are not an oppressed class. I'm pretty sure I had fewer romantic relationships in high school and college than any of these people. I was not happy about it, but I was not oppressed.

also, women are also not infrequently shy, into geeky stuff, and rejected by prospective partners. somehow this always is left out of the "nerds are oppressed" conversations.

not being as romantically successful as you'd like is not a free pass to insult people who have been sexually assaulted. this isn't that complicated.

apparently Siskind mocks and insults a woman who committed suicide after she spoke about being sexually assaulted in the rationalist community, and no one would help her or believe her. http://www.eruditorumpress.com/blog/the-beigeness-or-how-to-kill-people-with-bad-writing-the-scott-alexander-method/ …

he sounds like a complete piece of shit. people defending him need to really think hard about what the fuck they're doing.

.@ElSandifer shows pretty convincingly that Siskind is *obsessed* with controlling how people talk about him, and with controlling what people are allowed to say about his work.

his complaints about the use of his name take on a pretty specific context when you read about how he tries to set the bounds for acceptable responses to his work.

to be more explicit, he is a thin-skinned, self-pitying, self-worshipping control freak.

Is there a list of things people "shouldn't" do when responding to his work because I would love to do as many of them as possible as close to his eyes as I can get
