parents are tyrants. "parent" is an oppressive class, like rich people or white people.

there are things you can do to try to minimize the abuse that's endemic to the parent/child relationship, but it's always there.

Oh no, don’t talk about the rights of children or you’ll really piss them off. As is patriarch just meant “man.” I once had a boss call me the gestapo for saying that private school is child abuse.

I went to an abusive private school so I don't disagree, but can you elaborate on that?

i understand the point you're trying to make, but you're conflating together fundamentally different concepts, including oppression and trauma, abusive and supportive parenting, etc. this is not a subject that can be adequately discussed on twitter.

you are very wrong about "abuse" being always there. In all sincerity you should read up on anarchist approaches to parenting, which treat children as independent beings with agency while recognizing the authority needed to protect them from harm

A power differential is not the same thing as abuse. If you've defined "abuse" so broadly that it inheres in the parent-child relationship itself regardless of actual parental behavior, then you've defined the concept into meaninglessness.
