I was talking to an expert today who was saying that they felt the possibility of massive economic disaster this fall is...pretty high.

So, the stock market always has a big dip around November in an election year. With everything else going on, that alone had the potential to mess things up as people panic (even though it's part of the normal pattern). Plus everything else? Yes, it will be bad.

I’m no economist but I’ve been assuming that’s going to happen when we get the inevitable spike/shutdown when flu season starts and everyone is back in school. So like in 3 weeks max.

I don't think you guys are ever going back to shut down unless Biden wins. Seems pretty clear that GOP strategy is to grind on indefinitely, regardless of consequences.

Given the lack of action on stimulus in Congress in seems very likely.

So @brooklynmarie was told by her academic economist friends that they're almost universally appalled at how their field has been portrayed by cable news economists, which tbh is pretty unsurprising and absolutely terrifying in its implications for our future

This is the latest version of the game that played out in 08. It's easy to make money in a crash if you get the first move. So when you're in too deep & your insiders are about to get out, move now & blame the new regime when you bail out.
