saying someone is a racist is about outcomes as much as motivations. the guy in Get Out who has no animus towards Black ppl but is using other's animus as a convenient way to get his eyesight back...that guy is still a racist, because he doesn't think Black lives matter.https://twitter.com/bernybelvedere/status/1285205497935732737 …

You’re focusing on a different dimension to the question. The original claim was not about *outcomes* but about *motivations*. My position is that as a matter of psychological explanation, there are lots of Trump voters for whom antagonism toward other races isn’t factoring in. https://twitter.com/ParkerMolloy/status/1285201341250523137 …

"I don't hate Black people, but it's okay to harm Black people so I can get a tax cut". You're a racist if you think that.

if you act like a racist, and take material steps to advance racism, it is not a slur to call you a racist.

if you don't want to be called a racist, stop doing racist shit. if you care about racism, don't defend people who do racist shit, or else people are likely to call you a racist too, and with good reason.

Definitely true, but I get why one might choose to address that type of racist belief differently. Two things can both be accurately labeled as "toxins" but still require different antidotes.

The only reason to “address that land of racist belief differently” is convenience. And preferring convenience to actively dismantling racist *systems* is a type of hate.
