it's funny that Jesse constantly claims he is being misrepresented, and then insists that Emily must want Matt fired no matter what she says, or how she repeatedly says she likes him and doesn't want reprisals.

it's wild because this is exactly the way some of the bad discourse the letter is ostensibly complaining about proceeds. every statement is given a paranoid reading, with its worst conceivable material consequence discovered as its secret purpose.

yglesias has been open about his views and was imo just naive in signing the letter, but part of that naivete was not seeing the problem in lining up alongside such prominent hypocrites
