anyway. I'm not sorry I wrote that piece. the folks who are treating it as some sort of shameful thing to have discussed look like right assholes mostly. (though one person has been prominent sort of leftist...not sure what her deal is now though.)

Guy Hamilton-Smith does a lot more work on these issues than I do and he's currently getting a lot more crap for it. He's had to lock his account, but he's a good person to follow; you should check out his work if you are interested in these issues.

I want to know who a sex offender is so I don't need to ever let them in my life. Friends are the type to assault people...so why would I want to be friends with a sex offender?

Besides, ultimately, even if they don't stop assaults, they can keep them from developing relationships with vulnerable people. It's some accountability for their actions. If you defend them getting away with this, that just tells me you don't think they should be accountable.
