work is a place where people are really unfree—as we've seen in cases where medical professionals aren't allowed to use their own PPE, or people are forced to work at risk of death with little or no recourse.https://arcdigital.media/woody-allen-isnt-the-only-one-who-gets-to-speak-6461e9429887?source=friends_link&sk=7dbe625214b99db48bee433d9379b97d …

MeToo is itself about workplace safety and workplace rights. What can your boss do to you with impunity? often the answer is, "whatever the boss wants."https://arcdigital.media/woody-allen-isnt-the-only-one-who-gets-to-speak-6461e9429887?source=friends_link&sk=7dbe625214b99db48bee433d9379b97d …

should Hatchette employees be forced to spend their time and professional expertise on Allen's book against their conscience despite their bosses say so? how is that freedom?https://arcdigital.media/woody-allen-isnt-the-only-one-who-gets-to-speak-6461e9429887?source=friends_link&sk=7dbe625214b99db48bee433d9379b97d …

worker's freedoms shouldn't be the only thing you look at either; denying service to black people or gay people infringes on their freedoms, and is illegal, and rightfully so.https://arcdigital.media/woody-allen-isnt-the-only-one-who-gets-to-speak-6461e9429887?source=friends_link&sk=7dbe625214b99db48bee433d9379b97d …

Workers have a right to speak, but that doesn't give them veto power over everything the company they work for does.
-
so, workers in most cases *do not* have a right to speak, at all. they can literally be fired for speaking. promises to not retaliate are generally a joke. so everything after that first phrase is nonsense, because your premise is incorrect.
