The Khat debate. Let’s just be honest with this issue. I have friends and colleagues who see nothing of it and are part of the establishment on that to be a natural progression. And yes, I noticed something discernible about the whole thing.

For the Islamist, it’s a natural progression for them to usher this agenda in. My late father helped to establish the Education dept of UIA and assisted DSAI. Our house were filled with lots of books by ISTAC, Esposito, etc. I recalled trying to get my late father to read Sufism

Back to the issue of Khat. When it is made part of BM teaching rather than in the Art class. I get it and would verify this as an observer on the rising Islamic fundamentalism being mainstreamed more and more.

Any extremism is not good and may jeopardize the fine balance of heterogeneity of our society. So I would cautious about it being so gung-ho in being included. And yes, we should prioritize other learning experience more. Khat introduction does not make sense in the bigger scheme
