It’s increasingly clear that the wealth and power of any given nation state will be proportional to its ability to create and utilize new technology.

The reason why US dominated the world in the last 50 years and the reason why China/India may dominate the next 30-40.

The reason why the US will dominate for the next 50 years. US is, by far, the most innovative and creative country in the world and there’s no reason to think that will change. It has nothing to do with technology but with the culture, freedom and diversity that the US fosters.

Agree. Although governmenta don’t really create technology but merely recognize its potential early on. That’s their main job. They can however creat a fertile ground that nurtures it and set policies that would allow it to reach that potential.

The wealth of a nation directly correlates with the productivity of its citizens. The wealth of an individual directly correlates, on average, with his independence and his ability to use leverage to increment its productivity given its inputs (who wants to 9-9-6?). [1/2]

Independence and leverage are the directions and measures in which relative wealth is created, and in which technology adoption contributes.
