It's better for the long run. Your likes changes the incentives of a tweeter - whether we like to admit it or not. Think of it like a jungle - just seeing the cameraman changes how the animals behaves. It dilutes the "natural observation" data.

I think that at some point you stop paying attention to what others think, at least before you share an idea. I've passed that tipping point in my life. After the fact, I do agree that there is a lovely dopamine rush if someone exceptional "likes" it.
