Not at all. The vast majority of the this is you pretend we struggle against, really are things people chose to consume. Nobody is forcing you to watch those commercials, buy junk food, spreading misinformation or wasting your life on video games.

You do have the choice but people are more likely to side with those that require less effort. Emotions play a big role there and if you do not know how to control them you end up suffering. Youre just a driver of a machine. Learn to detach.

I think the struggle with pleasure and desire has always been there. Desire leads to attachment which in turn leads suffering. The first noble truth in Buddhism.
