    Good point by : Education today is a "Procrustean Bed." Kids can't focus & perform in the obsolete "classroom" But instead of changing the curriculum to fit the children, we change the children (via overdiagnosing ADHD & prescribing meds) to fit the curriculum.

    One test of innovation vs. imitation / adaptation is whether or not the product spreads outside the country of origin... h/t

    1/ Many should exercise more caution in predicting China's future. Those overly attribute short-term market opportunity for innovation ability. They also omit serious macro factors and structural concerns. It's a "treadmill to hell" and "Gravity will not be repealed."

    Innovation in Silicon Valley is increasing. Silicon Valley’s share of global innovation is decreasing. Both can be true, and the latter can be used to weave a “peak” narrative.

    This imagine cover can be interpreted so many ways. A/ It’s a near-mainstream view; B/ It’s on the horizon; C/ folks have startup/Valley fatigue; D/ it’s a great time to invest & build in Valley; E/ all of the above!

    I am, of course, biased. I am all about stories that MEAN SOMETHING. Stories that have PURPOSE. That's why Ted Chiang is *so fucking good* -- ALL of his stories are questions with answers regarding the biggest questions we have related to the nature of existence.

    When an author has NEVER published a book (just short stories)... AND the few novellas they DO publish as books multiply in value (what cost a few dozen dollars now costs hundreds) ... you know you are dealing with inimitable greatness. TED CHIANG Most underrated writer alive.
