Can I draw a straight line through your product? It’s my fundamental question Messy products fracture attention, create indigestion & provide no hooks A product that holds the line balances value prop, arc, work-flow & benefit into a symphony You know it when you see it

A thought provoking interview on my new favorite podcast - Don Hoffman proposes that interacting conscious agents are the fundamental building blocks of reality, and attempts to back it up with evolution and quantum mechanics.

Good point by : Education today is a "Procrustean Bed." Kids can't focus & perform in the obsolete "classroom" But instead of changing the curriculum to fit the children, we change the children (via overdiagnosing ADHD & prescribing meds) to fit the curriculum.

Scaling a company via code and contracts instead of via people mitigates the Principal-Agent problem. Scaling via community-generated code and content mitigates Hayek’s Local Knowledge problem.

When I say Master Chief not speaking is interesting, I mean it’s interesting that we think it’s interesting. I mean why should that be the case? Shouldn’t that make Master Chief boring? Why would silence elevate him?

You know I’ve been watching the Halo series and I never realized just how many religious elements were a part of the show. And not just in name, but in concept as well. Like the idea of the Flood destroying everything in its path.

Innovation in Silicon Valley is increasing. Silicon Valley’s share of global innovation is decreasing. Both can be true, and the latter can be used to weave a “peak” narrative.

I am, of course, biased. I am all about stories that MEAN SOMETHING. Stories that have PURPOSE. That's why Ted Chiang is *so fucking good* -- ALL of his stories are questions with answers regarding the biggest questions we have related to the nature of existence.

Reality is neutral. Our reactions reflect back and create our world. Judge, and feel separate and lonely. Anger, and lose peace of mind. Cling, and live in anxiety. Fantasize, and miss the present. Desire, and suffer until you have it. Heaven and hell are right here, right now.

One cypherpunk attribute of Proof-of-Work cryptocurrency that has been lost to ASIC mining (and doesn’t even exist with Proof of Stake) is the ability to obtain the currency, on demand, in a highly censorship resistant manner.
