The sketcher becomes the sketched! Thanks so much to (1) Rosie Aboody and (2) Sophie Bridgers for sketching yesterday’s talk—I love these ☺️

One of my favorite ways to teach programming is using "I do, we do, you do": 1️⃣ I DO: Learners close their laptops to a 45 degree angle, and watch me live code and narrate my thought process. We discuss any questions.

Firework in Puerto Rico tonight as people in Santurce celebrated New Year's Eve. People decided to cancel January after a month of anxiety due to earthquakes that have been felt almost daily, & continue. People want to start over. So, HNY! 📷: Eloy Perez

In Puerto Rico today, people are celebrating the end of January as if its another new year’s eve. And with memes. It’s been a long, tough month.

Looking for relevant papers! :) Do preschool-aged children understand that boys and girls are of the same species?

Def niche, but here’s a message for everyone 🙂 “These results suggest that we have, until now, only measured the tip of the iceberg in the activation-mapping literature due to our goal of limiting the familywise error rate through cluster extent-based inference.”

I'm proud in to introduce evidently, a python package for simulating from evidence accumulation models. Unlike other packages, it focuses on the time course of these models, and should be particularly useful for looking at their EEG correlates!

Plugging an interesting hypothesis by : Does observing variability (e.g., different currencies) provide evidence that institutional kinds are defeasible? “Pardon him... [he] thinks the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.” - George Bernard Shaw

I’m really curious about what’s being learned here: What is the stimulus? How does this representation of kinds change over time?

Notes from Alexander Noyes’s talk on the surprising flexibility of children’s representations of kinds, including institutional kinds—that is, kinds that are socially constructed and continuously enacted, like money.

A lovely surprise from the lab! It's a beautifully woven quilt that shows our key ideas and stimuli from many experiments over the past 5 years ... who can ask for a better lab, better students, and a better way to remember our studies?! <3

One of my favorite parts of this talk was a call to action: For nearly all of our evolutionary history, humans have been foragers. Within our generation, we are seeing that way of life go away. Shows not only the value of doing cross-cultural work, but also the urgency. (2/2)
