Excellent! What makes it a lichen, rather than a fungi, in this case? At the moment it’s grouped in the fungi family Clavulinaceae, no?

A lichen because it gets its sugars through a symbiotic relationship with an algal partner. Lichenised fungi come from a range of fungal families but not so often from one that forms clubs like this. It was an exciting find
