    Killarney National Park (hen harrier nests lost 😥) as well as the Mournes on fire yesterday. Fermanagh uplands too as well as smaller fires elsewhere in Ireland. The causes need to be understood and addressed as this madness must stop

    The extent of the environmental and ecological damage to National Park is stark from the air. The crew of AW139 has returned to Baldonnel for the night. The sad reality is, their services will probably be required again tomorrow.

    I cannot believe that we witnessed today, people trying to go into the mountains!! This is an emergency! Stay away!

    Heartfelt gratitude to the heroic efforts who are battling to control the flames to save our beloved Mourne Mountains, their nature and wildlife. May they all keep safe. It is so important that walkers/tourists stay away & allow the emergency teams to work😞

    With another day ahead for the various crews across the country who march up the mournes to face the blazes head-on, all I can think about is the exceptional teamwork combined with the unbreakable spirit of these heroic men and women protecting one of our natural treasures.

    We have declared a major incident in the Mournes. Over 70 Firefighters continue to battle a huge gorse fire in the Slieve Donard area for a second day. 10 Fire Appliances are in attendance - please stay away from the area.

    My heart is so heavy this morning. The worst fire the service have had to deal with here. No direct cause has been relayed yet...but I can fathom a good guess. The devastation to nature and wildlife is inconceivable. Heartbroken 😔

    The Mournes are on fire and have been all day. Heartbreaking. Just abhorrent and horrific! 😔

    ‘Tongues of Fire’ is a phenomenal collection. Totally mind blowing. One of my favourite books of last year. If you haven’t read her yet - you are in for a wonderful treat!

    This little babe is celebrating her first birthday today! I’m eternally grateful to have found such wonderful readers. It was a weird year to launch a debut into (I’ve still never read from the poems in person!) but I think she found her way
