My point is that you lambast Christianity (on Christmas Day) for promoting “lies” and “fairytales,” yet you insist that your tradition, Islam, is void of those things. That’s not just wrong. It’s extreme. Believe what you want, but exercise some critical thinking, too. Peace.

As Muslims, we obviously believe in miracles + authenticity of the Qur'an and many hadiths. Prophet Jesus born on 25th December is just wrong, lying to kids about Santa Claus, wtf? The burqa example doesn't make much sense. Allah guides who he wills. twitter.com/nathanlean/sta…

The Taliban have banned women from seeking education in Afghanistan for one reason: Fear. They are afraid that educated girls will become powerful & visionary leaders who will crumble the misogynistic institutions that have kept them down. Let’s hope they will. #LetHerLearn

If you celebrate the freedom of women in #Iran who choose to courageously remove their veils in the face of regime oppression, you should also celebrate #Muslim women who choose to remain veiled. If not, you aren’t pro-freedom. You’re pro-women-doing-what-you-want-them-to-do.

The EU Commission is certainly not “fully committed” to combatting Islamophobia if, after 7 years of operating and 1 year since this vacancy, they do have a Coordinator. If this issue was as urgent to them as they claim, they would fast-track the hunt.

Wrong. It’s not “Islamophobic” to share this story. But it *is* Islamophobic to suggest — as you certainly seem to do — that there is something essentially “Islamic” about these executions because they happen to coincide with the call to prayer.

In Iran, people get executed with “Allahu Akbar” call to prayer in the morning. In the West, we are told if we share this story we will cause Islamophobia. In Iran people want to change the murderous regime. In the West "regime change" is a dirty word.

It may be astounding to some, but here we have a beautiful expression of the Islamic tradition: thanking God even in defeat, even in moments of despair, even when voicing other emotions — anger, resentment, etc — might be easier.

Virulently Islamophobic blogger Pamela Geller has had her Twitter account restored after a very long ban for spewing hatred at and antagonizing Muslims mercilessly. Her voice, and those like her, don’t deserve platforms to broadcast their prejudice.

David Friedman: 1. Supported banning all Muslim immigrants. 2. Wrote a book that blamed terrorism on Islam. 3. Claimed that if Muslims spent more money as tourists to Israel, conflict would disappear. 4. Told critics of Israeli occupation to “keep your mouths shut.”

Can’t the White House just condemn antisemitism without mentioning “Islamophobia and related forms of bias and discrimination”? Lots of “phobias” are worthy of condemnation but I thought this working group was to focus on Jew hatred alone. Disappointing. whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/

Is it just my eyes, or does MSNBC have a still image of the falling Twin Towers behind Rev. Russell Levinson, Jr., while he talks about his relationship with George H.W and Barbara Bush? Weird.

The “Islamic Republic” of Iran is not “Islamic” for any other reason other than its autocratic leaders *say so.* The violence we see on its streets today is not representative of Islam’s many followers. It is politically motivated and abhorrent, and the regime must go.

. you have played a major role in elevating anti-LGBT+ hate rhetoric and anti-trans lies while spending your time in Congress blocking even the most common sense gun safety laws. You don’t get to “thoughts and prayers” your way out of this. Look inward and change.

The news out of Colorado Springs is absolutely awful. This morning the victims & their families are in my prayers. This lawless violence needs to end and end quickly.

Born “Leo Morris,” Muhammad was one of many jazz musicians who converted to Islam in the 1960s. After watching a Muslim friend perform ablutions before touching the Qur’an, he said he was deeply moved. He credits Islam for “saving his life,” and helping him get clean.

Remembering Idris Muhammad, born on this day in 1939 in New Orleans. An extremely humble man, he said this in an interview with Wax Poetics in 2014 in response to hip-hop musicians appropriating his music and not getting paid:

Let's be clear. Eli Lilly should apologize for increasing the price of insulin by over 1,200% since 1996 to $275 while it costs less than $10 to manufacture. The inventors of insulin sold their patents in 1923 for $1 to save lives, not to make Eli Lilly's CEO obscenely rich.

If you want to know why --the top foreign policy advisor to the candidate who came in 2nd in the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries--isn't in the Biden administration, this is why. Because he's not willing to be an accomplice to the crushing of Palestinian rights

One year ago today the Israeli government labeled 6 prominent Palestinian rights groups "terrorists," effectively banning them. They have yet to provide credible evidence justifying the designations. The U.S. response has been to say as little as possible about it. twitter.com/mattduss/statu…

When a WOC says she's leaving academia because it's toxic, racist, and exploitative, and your response is, can you do this thing for me for free, maybe its time to think about how you have contributed to the toxicity and exploitation within the system.
