    feel better after a little walk I know me individually turning off my webcam isn't a solution to the environmental impact of zoom meetings mostly just wanted to concern troll my supervisor and hopefully get them off my case over a non-issue

    on a work zoom and my supervisor (Gen X) IM'd me that my camera was off and it would be nice to turn it on 🙄 IM'd them back this study 👇

    There was also the insistence on dangers of alleged “false sense of security” from masks.. I spent months arguing with various expert committees, showing them sociology evidence why this was nonsense. They hand-waved it away. Gladwellian disease, assuming contrarianism is smart.

    the vaccine rollout in the US is a lottery. so it’s a tremendous relief that today my mom got her 2nd shot! 🎉🎉🥲 all credit goes to my girlfriend B who hooked her up 💕💕

    lrt- I spent almost an hour drafting an explanation a student could use to persuade their instructor that the system had logged them as taking the quiz when they weren't, exceeding the time limit reading that thread it hit me these situations are used to justify e-proctoring 😒

    Again, if the harms to students don’t convince you, consider your own self interest. When I say “you are next,” it’s not a guess.

    Instructors: if you are not moved by the student revolt against proctoring systems, and the evidence that they are ableist and racist doesn’t convince you to abandon them, think about how you’ll feel when the systems train their gaze on you—because you are undoubtedly next.
