One context here: "Biden on the issues" looks different today than in the past, in part becaus of the pressure not just of BS and EW but many other people to move things significantly left. See criminal justice! For voters to agree with Biden 2019 is already a progressive shift.

Totally agree with that. Biden's 2020 platform is quite a bit to the left of Obama's 2008 platform, I'd imagine. And BS/EW, etc. are (partly) responsible for that. But I'd also argue the 2020 version of Biden is as close/closer to the median Democratic voter *today* as they are.

The vocal liberals seem to have a tough time remembering that there a lot of practical voters out there.

The question doesn’t ask them about “the issues”
-
Exactly. We actually have to ask about the issues themselves to prove this. Then we can ask why people support politicians who don't agree with them. Most probably don't even know at this stage what most candidates stand for. And the most left ones, the exceptions, are doing well

Bingo. And the #1 issue for me is Trump. There's no single issue that is larger than beating Trump and having a nominee who can have down-ballot coattails to destroy Trumpism. It's not about winning by 1%. Whoever has the largest potential. I'll worry about issues Jan 21, 2021.

How’d that work out for Hillary? All I heard was how she was the most electable but here we are.
