BREAKING: The USDA reports that two pet cats in New York have tested positive for the novel coronavirus. These are the first domestic pets in the U.S. to test positive. Both expected to recover. *Note: there remains NO EVIDENCE that domestic animals can pass the virus to humans*

At this time, the CDC is *not* recommending routine testing for pets.

Important point below. "Keep cats indoors" guidance wouldn't apply to taking them to the vet, etc. Bottom line, continue to care for your pets as you normally would. https://twitter.com/svethardt/status/1253023029329719297?s=20 …

I get about cats, what I have done anyway for years. But I don't understand the dog guidance here, I thought dogs couldn't get it. And in dog parks here, the dogs crowd together, but the people are fully distanced.
-
A few dogs have tested positive outside the U.S., so I imagine that's where the guidance comes from.

Oh my gosh. We might as well be hermits. And idk why ppl didn't think this. If bats can have it domestic animals can too. I just hope ppl don't start abandoning their pets.
