I work in a public health agency. The vast majority of my Center which deals with food safety is furloughed. We only get recalls when people are hospitalized or dying. But those impacts don't fit his narrative so he tries to pretend they don't exist. #TrumpShutdown

Delayed research, Delayed Action when the science starts to indicate a problem, delayed response time because a furlough, loss of institutional knowledge as this drags on. He doesn't care about any of that. He doesn't care about the American public.

Does he even realize that the people tasked with keeping him alive are the exact people he is talking about?

Every shutdown, the media contributes to the perception that there are federal employees who are employee but not doing anything by focusing on the word "essential". We need to change narrative to excepted or not excepted and stop demeaning federal workers at every turn.pic.twitter.com/qWODP4zCkw

I’ve already shuffled all my January bills around to ensure the ones that are less lenient are paid first - the rest will just go unpaid. By the end of Jan I’m in real trouble. Being a civil service pawn in this game is outrageous.

We went from a dual income household to a zero income household.

Horrible

Federal employee with NOAA Fisheries here. Shutdowns are unacceptable, period. This nonsense is no way to treat hardworking employees, and it is undermining our ability to serve the American public and meet statutory commitments.
-
Sorry to here that, hang in

I’m a federal employee in DC, and 96% of my agency is shut down. I just want to get back to work. As a single mom with two boys to fully support, I desperately need my paycheck. I pray there is a speedy resolution to this current impasse, and I don’t support the wall.
-
This is so completely unfair to you! I’m very very sorry for the stress this puts on you & your family. It’s lousy & you don’t deserve it!

Federal employee here. Not getting paid, still have to go to work. How is this not against the law? Why aren’t reporters asking the President how he expects us to pay our bills or feed ourselves/families should this shutdown continue? Will he harm our lives to make himself happy?
-
At today’s press conference, one reporter asked that question and he diverted to some drivel about Americans would rather be safe.

I live within 40 miles is the border. The same border they’re been sending tear gas over in the last few weeks. I’ve felt safe for the last 30 years here. He has no idea what he’s talking about.

24 years of dedicated service & 3 yrs away from what I hoped would be a comfortable retirement. Last yr my 10 yr. old granddaughter had to move in with me, and I am her sole provider. I can’t get another job since I’m working without pay. I’ve never been so frightened in my life.

My heart goes out to you—from another Grandma living with a grandchild.

Thank you.
