    Crucial in these pix of ex-Commission/Council presidents ( & ) w/ : chairs identical & equally placed; 3 different settings. As saying goes, once is a fluke, twice a coincidence, 3 times makes a trend. was treated differently today.

    Statement from the EU's Foreign Affairs team on the departure of from , and its concerns about restrictions imposed on foreign journalists. "The European Union will continue to stand up for the role of independent and reliable media all around the world."

    The EU is concerned as BBC and RTE correspondents left . This departure comes after a long period of harassment and latest case of foreign correspondents being driven out of the country. Read the full statement.

    Our wonderful Mandy, , who leaves today is irreplaceable. Always calm, always across the story, always a caring colleague. After a hairy moment in Libya, when we were pinned down by gunfire, she took the time to call me and ask how all the team were.

    Stephen was a great man and a fantastic journalist who ‘got’ people. He took me on in Rome as his first intern there, an opportunity that started me on my way to what I do today. I will remember him with admiration and gratitude. My condolences to all at .

    It is with great sadness that POLITICO announces the death of our much-loved editor in chief, Stephen Brown, at the age of 57. He was an inspiration, a mentor and a friend to us all. Our thoughts are with his family at this impossibly difficult time.
