This is wrong on so many levels. I respect a lot of 's work, but this is not one of those times. The idea that diplomats should take low-emissions transport to climate conferences will seem obvious to many people, but it's dangerous. THREAD:

It's been five years since the Paris agreement. All we are hearing is recycled targets when what we actually need is a credible plan for how we can meet them. We need a Green New Deal. Powerful words from our co-founder, .

"He doesn't really get it" Claire O'Neill, sacked president of the Glasgow climate conference, says admitted to her he doesn't really get climate change... & there's been a "huge lack of leadership" over the conference

The best reason to divest fossil fuel stock is that you'd like to help preserve a livable planet. Another reason is so that you won't lose your money.

. makes a good point in contrasting 's "no need to do more because this is enough to meet target" with UK policy to "maximise" oil extraction. But I don't agree that the problem is targets per se. 1/

Ten personal thoughts on the presidency/process, drawing on observations and lessons learned from the past 10+ years or so of following the COP process in various guises (government; adviser; researcher), beginning in the run-up to Copenhagen in early 2009:

Enough greenwashing. While is touting its sustainable athletes village, Japan is leading the world in ECA financing for fossil fuels and fueling the climate crisis. Check out our new report.

This is fairly interesting, and perhaps concerning. In this crucial year, a lot of people will be watching the UK COP Presidency carefully for signs of confidence after this...

Joining the Green New Deal UK national organising team a few weeks ago is so far the best decision I've made in 2020. Looking for a tangible way to tackle the climate crisis while re-imagining and re-creating a just, stable and beautiful world? This is for you.

My 20-month investigation into oil & gas radioactivity has just been published. Waste spilled, spread, dumped across the US (& world). Worker cancers indisputably linked to radioactivity. Communities poisoned. Impacts for industry may be catastrophic:
