  9. Crucially, the EU doesn't recommend countries completely shun any one supplier like -- something the U.S. has been pushing for. The announcement comes 1 day after the U.K. granted Huawei partial 5G access, which U.S. officials didn't like.

    "High risk vendors" (read: Huawei) allowed limited role in UK networks - banned from core - 35% cap on radio access components (the main market) - excluded from sensitive locations like nuclear sites (!) and "safety related" critical national infrastructure

    Note that a partial restriction from some core network components would be in line with the EU's 5G toolbox, due to be unveiled tomorrow. Another example of the UK being on the same page with the EU (and not the U.S) in a key foreign policy issue (China)
