There was a time when Tertullian had not yet fallen into heresy:) (I still don’t like the man tho)

Tertullian never fell into heresy. His montanism was neither heterodox nor heretical as it only concerned discipline and his theological propositions always remained sound. He became a schismatic, not a heretic, plus the tertullianist church later came back to the great church.

I’m afraid I follow the Orthodox teaching on this: his schism made him farther from Orthodoxy than Cyprian. So that’s that.
