The task was not to negate being in favour of becoming, but one had to thinking being prior to the distinction and antithesis between the two. And being is not the necessary antipode of becoming, just as good is not the necessary antipode of evil, or truth of error.

Becoming only exists as a concept as relative to Being, getting rid of Being not only removes Becoming but all other antitheses...

Yes, and this was Heidegger's "criticism" of Nietzsche, that he didn't push his insight about Platonism far enough. And there is, in all half-measures, the dangerous possibility that the problem, instead of being resolved, becomes even more intractable.
