Thats why I engage with the Lindy Effect. What's important in life? How to live and the bills. Everything else is entertainment. Twitter is full of little philosophers writing screeds about niche political or media genres. It's all garbage 1. How to live 2. how to pay the bills

It's like the Petersonian "wash your dick" and "clean your room" - if such advice is actually useful to a grown man, he was worthless in the first place. No sane person thinks "clean your room" or "wash your dick" are important, precisely because they are automatic reflexes.
-
There's no advice being given here. Peterson's whole brand is about trying to give advice. Explaining what behavior has an antecedent in the past is much different than being a motivational speaker
-
The comparison wasn't on the message being an advice, but on the fact that both messages concern themselves with basics which shouldn't need explanation in sane, well-bred grown men.

Not from what I have discovered with tweeting. Most people think things that are very new are ancient, whether it is yoga or tai chi or other behaviors.
