«τὴν ἀγάπην σου τὴν πρώτην ἀφῆκας. μνημόνευε οὖν πόθεν πέπτωκας, καὶ μετανόησον καὶ τὰ πρῶτα ἔργα ποίησον» "You've abandoned your first love. So remember whence you fell, change your mindset, and do your first works." (Rev. 2: 4-5)
Is there a reason why he uses imperfective imperative on line 2 and then aorist on lines 3-4 except that mnemoneuo's aorist imperative is more complex than its imperfective form? The man's Greek was NOT good at all.

Quirk of koine aorist imperatives: repentance and doing are laden with more urgency and activity. μνημόνευε is present imperative, it's a more complex process of remembrance. It's the difference between κέλευε and κέλευσον.

That's great. Right now I've been reading Homeric/Dorian for about six months so I know the shock will be brutal, but can I just open John?

The Apocalypse is very simple, just an endless machine gun round of clauses. But I can't be a sure judge on it (or anything Koine) because I grew up with it and as my command of the ancient form of the language grew, it was like a haze was slowly lifting from the text.
