Yay! Today I fixed the cassette player and managed to load Hostages on my “new” ZX Spectrum +2 computer, 33 years later. I was just 17 when I did the sprites and music for that game 😵💫

Ordered myself a copy of this yesterday, 2600 coding has always been on my bucket list. I came close with some Activision 2600 J2ME mobile conversions a few years ago, but that was still coding in Java, this might even require getting my grandfathers Atari out of the loft.

I built a tester for VDP chips. The oscillator is a 10.738635 mHz. crystal with two 20pf capacitors. I had the good luck of having bought 10 TMS9118, 3 TMS9918, and all work except for one dud at the right. The TMS9918 are very oxidized. #Retro #retrogaming #msx #colecovision

Some flaky EPROM just read good adjusting on the socket. But the fourth one is one of the worst nightmares: differing checksums on each read 😱

It was a dark and stormy night, and someone at Atariage said that Jameco was selling used EPROM, and some were Atari protos, and guess what? It was true! 🤯 I bought $30 in EPROMs and got Atari 2600 protos! 🫠 Another guy just bought the remaining stock #retro #retrogaming #Atari
