main reason they did it was to stop channels from popping up and stealing content to get some quick money from it. Like, it really really hurts and I don't want to have to use copyright claims as a means to cease channels from using my content but please just ask me and if I say

It doesn't sound mean at all. It is absolutely ridiculous that people think they can earn money from content that they took no part in creating.
I see a lot go. "Contact me if you dont want your clips being used" when it should be other way around them contacting you for usage.
You shouldn't start claiming all the videos who use your content without permission.
