small creators are not only the future of youtube as a platform, they also work just as hard as creators with larger followings. punishing them for not reaching certain subscriber and ~minutes watched~ milestones is ridiculously unfair and shortsighted.

i remember when all i wanted was that banner
when youtube felt more like a community. this move is just going to encourage more tabloid-style clickbait and make people more desperate...exactly what youtube doesn’t need.
The banner was goals, I feel like it was the true verification back then aha but I loved YT back then, it was so easy to find others with similiar interests and interact, especially the video replies! Wish we could go back sighhh

To set a contrary point, wasn’t it more fun back when there were goals like those thresholds to strive for? I think this is like taking it back to that. Approved channels will be human vetted so cheating should be harder

i can see that side to it, for sure, wish i could join the debate actually! i personally do feel like there's a chance this will bring out more creators with diverse content. my worry is that it will not. i also think it will encourage long-form sensationalist clickbait which is
