Apple is now offering full end-to-encryption for nearly all the data store in its global cloud-based storage system. That will make it more difficult for hackers, spies and law enforcement agencies to access sensitive user information.

There are free email apps that have offered that for years now. So why so late to the party? Would have been nice to have when that Brit newspaper hacked all those celebrities' Clouds.

Just about everything is wrong here: - This isn't about e-mail (that's still unencrypted) - Hacking would've still happened as the password is used as the key - Those mail apps only ever offer messages in their ecosystem to be e2ee. Might as well just use WhatsApp instead.
