this comment is stupid in a lot of obvious ways but i think it's also illuminating as to what "the political process" does and does not include. apparently fighting and winning the civil war and passing the 14th amendment are not part of the political process!

Invoking the 14th Amendment to avoid default on the debt is a terrible idea, not for legal reasons, but political. It would be an end-run around the political process, and set a terrible precedent for future end-runs by Republicans when they are in a position to do it.

The final vote to pass #LB574 was 33-15. That means the bill's restrictions on abortion will take effect immediately once Gov. Jim Pillen signs it, because of the emergency clause.
