This sort of thing is why I am somewhat skeptical of ideas like this: https://twitter.com/amasad/status/1211434104887005184?s=21 … There actually isn’t that much alpha to be gained by perusing a bunch of studies, IMO. The questions (sleep, diet etc.) are genuinely hard & don’t have clear answers.https://twitter.com/amasad/status/1211434104887005184 …

All the diligent researchers & biohackers haven’t been able to come up with much that significantly beats popular health heuristics like “eat a balanced diet, exercise, and don’t neglect sleep”.

I very much support people like
@gwern and@alexeyguzey trying, btw! We should explore all the paths. But it’s striking how close to the efficient frontier you can get by just being a healthy exercising normie who drinks a cup of coffee everyday & maybe takes melatonin.Prikaži ovu nit

This seems to not say either way for red, and just criticises the use of yellow or orange light? IIRC, red is special because it's invisible to rods (which are used for low light).

I definitely get sleepy quickly when I put my smart lightbulb in low-blue-light mode. LED lightbulbs are key - if you just put apps on your phone and PC, but don't adjust your lighting, it won't help very much or at all, in my experience.
