    "Government debt" is just dollars that have been spent by gov that haven't yet been used to pay taxes. Those dollars take several forms (eg. currency, gov bonds) according to private portfolio preferences. Spending more doesn't burden our grandchildren - it gives them dollars.

    The problem with calling Treasury Bonds “government debt” is that people will respond to tweets like this with the obvious retort that we must“pay off” debt when we clearly don’t. We’re a species that thinks in metaphors - now is the time to retire this one for good.

    If teenage boys only had an animal they could groom, train and condition, who was completely reliant on them to live, they'd definitely understand consent way more.
