The male black cap who's been in my garden since November. His mate comes to see us every now and then too.

OH NO McDonalds is coming to our great county, the last bastion of local food will soon fall, wild blackberries & elderflowers in our hedgerows will be replaced by paper bags & burger boxes, the Rutland Ospreys will be circling the golden arches in search of a filet o'fish....

Are birds incestuous? Last year I had a lot of baby blue tits in the garden, and a couple of blue tits have taken up residence in a new nestbox. Would last year's babies breed with each other, or find a mate from a different family?

Three hours choosing nice things from because was tempted by the 20% discount code. Finally ready to check out with over £100 in basket, applied code and.....£6 😧😡 It only applied the code to one product! Ah well, saved me money and the environment future trash.

Here is the pair of black caps who’ve taken up residence in out tiny garden. They’ve been here nearly a month now.

Buzzard resting briefly in a tree before the mobbing crows come back. Not great photos as it was far away and hiding. It spent a few hours flying around the area; think it was waiting for me to go so it could pounce on the rabbits in the field!

Question for I’ve just been out to refill the feeders and I’m sure I heard a willow warbler singing. Is this possible? I have a pair of black caps pretty much living in the garden at the moment; can they sound like a WW? Does anything else?

Sad that there’s no collective noun for I’ve come up with my own - a bobble. Here’s part of a bobble enjoying fat balls.

NO environmental grants for small landowners. is supposed to have no minimum area, but project developer says our area is too small. Of course there are lots of lucrative grants for big landowners
