I hope my personal essay about my son’s racial identity formation as a black child who looks white speaks to you and helps you to see him and others like him again for the first time.

The U.S. is currently one of six countries in the WORLD without a national paid leave program.
Time to change that. RT if you think we need paid leave for families.

I'm tellin' y'all, it's not over. The only reason we can say that, though, is because of folks' outrage. Keep it up. They're listening. We cannot truly #BuildBackBetter without #PaidLeaveForAll. Thank you to all the MOC👇🏾who are showing up for babies, parents, & caregivers.

We don’t even allow puppies to leave their parent until it’s developmentally appropriate.
Most childcare centers won’t take children under six weeks.
Yet, we offer no guarantee of paid leave to families. This is barbaric and inhumane!

Let’s make this clear: Cutting paid leave out of the #buildbackbetter bill means leaving behind women and families. There is no “recovery” if we leave behind those who have endured the brunt of the pandemic’s economic hardships. We need #PaidLeaveForAll.

Families lose an estimated $22.5 billion dollars per year because they don’t have adequate paid leave, and the economy loses trillions when women’s labor force participation is reduced. By expanding paid family leave, #BuildBackBetterAct strengthens family economic security.

Our leaders need to put families over billionaires' wealth.

March 2020: 614 billionaires worth $2.9 trillion
