Have you ever received a huge medical bill despite having private health insurance?
The one time I ever had to go to a hospital it was serious and turned into a 3-week stay. My premium private health insurance covered $245,000 of the $275,000 bill.
I had to pay the remaining $30,000. Took 2 yrs to pay it off.
Not a #HugeMedicalBill to some, but it was to me.

'Out of network' MDs and a couple of non-covered procedures added up to $20,000, and my deductible was 10,000. It was shocking how much I had to fight my insurance co to cover what they did cover.

Out of curiosity I looked up what a heart transplantation would cost here in Germany. It's a fraction of your 245,000. Medical care is super expensive in the US

Not saying it DIDN’T happen but after working for 3 decades in healthcare I have never seen an insurance policy that 1. Didn’t have an max annual out of pocket and 2. It was greater than $7,500.00.

Maybe you should become a med bill consultant? Not one person that I talked to at Blue Cross mentioned any of that. Nor did the hospital. All I know is after 3-4 months of phone calls & a mountain of bills I was stuck with $30,000 I owed, and I spent 2 yrs paying it all off.
